Starfish Newsletter ~ March 2013

Hello everyone!  Hope you are enjoying the first hints of Spring!

What's New at Starfish?  We are preparing for our garden project.  This year each child will have their very own garden patch and make their own choices about which seeds to plant.  All of us will be planting flowers, veggies, and berries!

We have begun with a large raised bed based on Hugelkultur, a Permaculture technique from Germany.  See our Little Starfish Facebook page for a video clip explaining the process.  Our goal is to make our yard a beautiful space where children will have the experience of nature, caring for animals (rabbits and hens), and growing their own food.

Our Preschool Program theme for this month is Spring.  Melissa has been conducting a five day a week preschool program since September (see previous blog post for description).  All the children can spell their own names, and some are reading!  We make sure that all the children are prepared for Kindergarden before they begin school.

Spring brings a great deal of joy for the general population and I think spring is the indication of bliss from every one of the seasons. I am designing up myself for the spring I need to plant numerous trees incorporating blooms in the spring season.

How can you imagine that we are not enjoying spring because spring is the weather of recreation. I never let this season go without doing a lot of enjoyment in it.
